Supervision & Coaching

About Supervision & Coaching

At Peak, we understand the professional and cultural dynamics that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander practitioners experience when working within a Western governing ideology. We aim to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social workers, allied health professionals and social welfare practitioners to identify and build their professional framework for practice without denying their cultural identity, values and spiritual beliefs. Peak uses the IPA Framework that supports practitioners in exploring their personal and professional identity, purpose and authority of cultural and professional knowledge.

Supervision and coaching sessions are delivered through a cultural lens that respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations and language groups. Peak ensures practitioners have a culturally safe environment to explore respectful ways of working across cultures. Practitioners will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify and develop their learning plans.

  • Engage in a yarning process to share their cultural values and beliefs.

  • Explore a culturally responsive way of working respectfully alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and community groups.

  • Develop personal and professional development in their chosen career.

  • Explore practice development skills to work alongside non-Indigenous colleagues.

  • Engage in a safe space to debrief critically.
